"There is a distinct energy in a group exercise class comprised of women. Whether it is a yoga circle, an aerobic workout, or water exercise. three or more women gathered with a common purpose such as exercise creates a kinetic wavelength of vibration."
Wow I believe I started the above post months and months ago. This past week I started back to zumba class after a hiatus of several months. I had overdone and begun experiencing knee issues. I must say even after only two classes back, I am constantly looking forward to the next class, and it has given me a new zest for life.
Zumba rocks.
From what I have read, it was started by accident when an aerobics instructor in Brazil forgot to bring his music, and grabbed a salsa type cd. The rest is history.
I started by doing youtube videos and graduated to classes at our local YMCA, first with a middle-aged Latina and later with a spunky red-haired young mom whose Cuban husband attends each class. Their energy is hard to beat.
Just hoping I don't overdo again.

Royal Ball/Sewing Saturday
Today really felt "springy"! I know so many of you have been in such a rough winter season this year; I keep wondering where all this snow is coming from. Is it global warming's last hurrah? Who can shed some light on this for me? In any case, we have been enjoying the warm weather to finally get rid of the dead leaves on our back patio and begin planning our spring garden. yay!
In other news, last night we went to the Royal Ball at the local YMCA, where we have been members since last May. The kids enjoyed dressing up, but 6:30 on a Friday night is probably not their "high energy" time and the events were not as engaging as we had hoped. It was fun to see the swim teachers and lifeguards dressed up as princesses though. We ended up having a cozy dinner at Corner Bakery and heading home to bed; Fridays we are just beat!
Prince or Astronaut?
Princes get hungry too!
Ready for the Royal Ball
There were a crowd of princesses learning to dance with Aurora.
Can you spot Delaney AKA Princess Rose Petal?
Hint: She carried her tiara but refused to put it on.
Hint 2: She is lower left wearing coral between two taller girls.
My Prince/Knight and Princess
Saturday the kids and I headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's for an afternoon visit. One thing we don't get enough of is informal non-childcare related, non-holiday related hangouts. Today one goal was a sewing project using Grandma's fancy sewing machine. A few months ago Owen and I picked up aprons at Ikea; why? He loves to cook and I love him! My apron went way past knee-length (mid-shin!) and his had no pockets. ZERO pockets. What were you thinking, IKEA designers? Solution?
Chop mine off to mid-thigh and make pockets out of my cuttings! yay! Today was the day.
pinning
ironing
testing
checking it out
Grandpa and O. working on his airplane
O. learning to pin with a thimble
Although I don't appear in the pix I did a fair amount of the sewing and had a blast. Next up: summer
dress for Laney and some tee shirt pillow covers! Fun!
Thanks mom, for your time today! We loved hanging out!
